Delivering Quality Senior Housing for the Alexandria Community

Clark Construction is proud to serve as the builder for Goodwin House Alexandria. Located on Fairbanks Ave. and Fillmore Ave., the project consists of two residential towers: a 14-story North Tower and a 16-story South Tower connected on the first 3 floors. These buildings will share four new levels of underground parking and attach to the existing The View Alexandria building via a tunnel.

As our team works to deliver this project, we are committed to being a respectful neighbor and community partner and providing ongoing updates to keep neighbors informed about the work ahead.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - October 15

We are committed to providing consistent updates on our team's construction progress. Check back for information on current or upcoming operations and key construction milestones as the project moves forward.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Beginning October 19, residents and community members should utilize Fillmore Avenue to enter and exit the property. Vehicle entry from Fairbanks Avenue will close. Parking will be prohibited in the northern parking lots and along the Fillmore entrance driveway. Vehicle access behind the existing Healthcare building will be closed.

Ongoing Operations

Construction at the Goodwin House Alexandria Jobsite is scheduled to begin on the week of October 19. Preparatory work is already underway to support the upcoming construction schedule. Here is a look at operations currently underway:

  • Informational signs detailing environmental protection and soil erosion measures are being installed around the jobsite perimeter.

  • Contractor crews are installing a new main water line along Fillmore Avenue to service the existing TVA building and the incoming Goodwin House building. Water line installation will continue through the week of November 16.

  • Traffic management plans are in place to keep Fillmore Avenue and the Goodwin House entrance accessible. Drivers can expect flaggers and periodic parking reassignments between the Fillmore driveway and the Ellipse for the duration of the water line installation.

  • Survey crews will continue to mark boundaries for the new water line and retaining walls, and will place monitoring sensors on adjacent townhomes to ensure building stability during construction.

  • Temporary safety fencing, protective barricades, and jobsite material deliveries will continue to arrive in support of operations.

Upcoming Operations

  • Access to the building’s front door will remain uninterrupted. Steel plates will be installed in certain areas to cover work zones. Detour signs and traffic personnel will help manage vehicle flow during construction.

  • For safety, active work zones will be closed to pedestrians. Jobsite fencing will be completed on October 23. Safety cones and caution tape will mark restricted areas until jobsite perimeter fencing is complete.

  • Mobile construction office trailers will be delivered and placed on-site.

  • Clearing crews will begin removing trees and brush in the northwest corner of the jobsite.
